FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions About Cranial Facial Release (CFR)
What is Cranial Facial Release (CFR)?
Cranial Facial Release (CFR) is a specialized chiropractic technique that focuses on the structures of the skull and nasal cavity. During treatment, a small balloon is inserted through the nose and briefly inflated. This creates pressure on the surrounding structures. CFR requires specific knowledge and training and is therefore not offered by every chiropractor.
For which conditions can Cranial Facial Release be used?
Practitioners use CFR to treat, among other things, nasal and sinus-related symptoms, facial symptoms, and certain functional symptoms in the head region. However, the scientific evidence supporting its effectiveness for these conditions is limited. Our chiropractors will therefore first assess your symptoms and medical history to determine whether CFR is an appropriate option.
Is a Cranial Facial Release treatment painful?
During a CFR treatment, you may experience an intense feeling of pressure or discomfort in your nose and face for a few seconds. How this is experienced varies from person to person. The chiropractor will explain in advance what to expect. There are also risks, including irritation or a nosebleed. The safety of this technique has not yet been sufficiently studied in a systematic manner.
How many CFR treatments will I need?
The number of treatments depends on your personal situation and the chiropractor’s assessment. There is no scientifically established optimal number of CFR treatments. During the initial consultation, we’ll discuss your symptoms, the possible approach, and how any changes will be evaluated. This way, you’ll know in advance what to expect.
Why Choose Cranial Facial Release at Chiropractic The Hague?
Chiropractie Den Haag has specialized expertise in the field of Cranial Facial Release. Our team includes several chiropractors who have received additional training in CFR. In addition, founder Matthew Schaer conducts international CFR training courses in Europe and Asia. According to the practice, Chiropractic The Hague is also the only location outside the United States authorized to provide CFR training. This exclusive status has yet to be independently confirmed.
What is the difference between CFR and standard chiropractic treatment?
Conventional chiropractic treatment typically focuses on the musculoskeletal system, including the spine and joints. Cranial Facial Release is a specific technique in which pressure is applied to structures within the nasal cavity using a small balloon. The method thus differs significantly from conventional chiropractic treatment techniques. CFR is not a substitute for standard medical diagnostics or proven treatments.
